Implementation of a district cooling system on the Punggol digital district in Singapore
ENGIE will design the integrated district cooling system (30,000 tons of refrigeration, 105 MW) that will serve both the Jurong Town Corporation…
Implementation of a new kind of commitment program for the energy transition, which encourages customers to consume better and less energy and to commit alongside ENGIE for a more sustainable world. This program is based on the following conviction: ENGIE will not meet the challenge of the energy transition alone, there is a need for collective commitment, involving stakeholders, including our individual customers. Our business is not just about supplying energy, but also about helping our consumers to adopt an ecological approach. This program is part of ENGIE's ambition to become the world leader in the zero-carbon transition and of the strategic shift taken by ENGIE in recent years towards carbon-neutral energy and more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions.
In March 2020, ENGIE launched a commitment program designed to raise awareness among its customers and help them reduce their energy consumption.
Thanks to this program, ENGIE associates its BtoC customers: through a points system, they are encouraged to adopt more sober and virtuous behaviors.
The customers can thus carry out various types of actions of sobriety or energy efficiency in various fields such as the control of energy, the optimization of the house equipment and to be rewarded by a system of points which, in its turn, encourages the responsible acts like supporting eco-responsible projects, obtaining objects to reduce its energy or ecological impact.
The mechanism around the gain of points motivates customers to become increasingly committed to the environment and to enter a virtuous circle.
This program allows, through numerous actions, the reduction of greenhouse gases.
Program concept :
on which the project has a significant impact
Scope 3 – Reduction of energy consumption by customers through energy conservation and efficiency mechanisms.
Avoided Emissions – Financing of eco-responsible projects such as reforestation or the preservation and protection of the oceans.
Proposal of eco-responsible objects allowing the control of different consumption items in a home.
4,100,000 kWh saved by our customers x 34 g* CO2e/kWh = 139 tons CO2e avoided. This value was calculated on the basis of the carbon intensity of ENGIE’s green electricity offers in 2020, i.e. 34 g* CO2e/kWh, while the carbon intensity of the French electricity consumption mix is 60 g CO2e/kWh (source: ADEME carbon base)
